History of Vogel & Vogel

In June 1990, two brothers, Louis Vogel and Joseph Vogel founded Vogel & Vogel. From the beginning their strategy was clear: create a niche firm with a unique positioning on the French and European markets. The growth of the firm was exceptional: composed in the beginning of two founding partners and an associate; 20 years later it is comprised of a team of 2 founding partners, 9 managers, 1 Of-Counsel and 27 associates and legal advisors. Created as an SCP [private partnership], Vogel & Vogel became a SELAS [limited liability company with shares for self-employed professionals] on 1 January 2007.

The active involvement of Louis Vogel and Joseph Vogel, the founding partners, in the teaching and current thinking on competition law strongly distinguishes them from most other practitioners.  Louis Vogel, President of the Panthéon-Assas University and Doctor in Private Law, wrote his thesis on comparative competition law and teaches this subject as well as European business law at the same university. Joseph Vogel trained as both an economist and lawyer. This combination of expertise - economics and law on the one hand and, lawyer and professor, on the other, is the strength and distinctive characteristic of Vogel & Vogel.

Vogel & Vogel today has the largest team specialized in competition, distribution and consumer law on the French market. It remains one of the last major French law firms active in this field, its competitors being essentially English and American.
